Dāna-Śreṣṭhatā: On the Superiority of Giving
Maitreya–Vyāsa Exemplum
गुप्त शरणमाश्रित्य भयेषु शरणागता: । अकस्मात् ते मया त्यक्ता न त्राता अभयैषिण:
gupta-śaraṇam āśritya bhayeṣu śaraṇāgatāḥ | akasmāt te mayā tyaktā na trātā abhayaiṣiṇaḥ ||
«នៅពេលមានភ័យគ្រោះ មនុស្សជាច្រើនដែលប្រាថ្នាសុវត្ថិភាព បានមករកខ្ញុំសុំការការពារ ដោយសង្ឃឹមជ្រកកោននៅទីលាក់សម្ងាត់។ ប៉ុន្តែខ្ញុំបានបោះបង់ពួកគេភ្លាមៗ; ខ្ញុំមិនបានសង្គ្រោះអ្នកដែលស្វែងរកភាពគ្មានភ័យឡើយ»។
