वयःस्थां च महाप्राज्ञ: कन्यामावोदुम्ति । जो श्रेष्ठ कुलमें उत्पन्न हुई हो
vayaḥsthāṃ ca mahāprājñaḥ kanyām āvodum icchati | yo śreṣṭha-kule utpannā bhavet uttama-lakṣaṇaiḥ praśaṃsitā ca vivāha-yogyām avasthāṃ prāptā | tādṛśīṃ sulakṣaṇāṃ kanyāṃ saha śreṣṭha-buddhimān puruṣo vivāhayet ||
ភីṣ្មៈបង្រៀនថា៖ «បុរសមានប្រាជ្ញាពិត គួរជ្រើសរើសកញ្ញាដែលបានដល់វ័យសមស្របសម្រាប់អាពាហ៍ពិពាហ៍—កើតក្នុងត្រកូលល្អ មានគុណលក្ខណៈល្អ និងមានសញ្ញាមង្គល—ហើយគួររៀបការជាមួយកញ្ញាសុភលក្ខណ៍ដូច្នោះ ដើម្បីឲ្យជីវិតគ្រួសារប្រព្រឹត្តទៅតាមធម៌»។
