Lord Kūrma (Viṣṇu) instructing the sages (in the Indradyumna dialogue frame)
Primary Rasa: shanta
This verse is primarily normative (dharma-vidhi) rather than metaphysical; it frames spiritual life through varṇāśrama discipline, implying that inner realization is supported by orderly conduct and duty in the gṛhastha stage.
No specific yoga technique is stated in this verse; it emphasizes karma-niyama—regulated household conduct—as the ethical foundation that, in the Kurma Purana’s broader Śaiva–Vaiṣṇava synthesis, supports later contemplative practice (including Pāśupata-oriented disciplines elsewhere).
The verse does not directly mention Śiva or Viṣṇu unity; it reflects the Purāṇa’s shared dharma framework in which devotion and discipline are upheld as common ground across Śaiva and Vaiṣṇava teachings.
