Sūta (narrating dharma-teachings to the sages, within the Kurma Purana’s discourse tradition)
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: karuna
It specifies three primary recipients—father, grandfather, and great-grandfather—described as the lepabhājas (partakers) of the offering.
It states that sapinda kinship—relationship traced through shared piṇḍa/ancestral connection—extends across seven generations, guiding ritual and social duties.
Though primarily a dharma-śāstra style rule on pitṛ-rites, it reflects the Purana’s integrated path where right ritual duty (karma within varṇāśrama) supports inner purification that later culminates in higher teachings such as yoga and devotion.
