Lord Vishnu (teaching Garuda/Vinata-putra)
Concept: No being—even the highest devas—is truly independent; all function under a higher sovereignty (paratantratā).
Vedantic Theme: Īśvara-sarvaniyantṛtva (the Lord as inner ruler) and jīva/deva paratantratā; rejection of absolute autonomy.
Application: Cultivate humility; attribute success to divine order; reduce ego-driven claims of control; align choices with dharma and devotion.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
Related Themes: Garuda Purana: supremacy of Viṣṇu and dependence of devas (general)
This verse stresses that no being—even major deities—functions in absolute independence; all operate within a higher cosmic order, encouraging humility and reliance on dharma and the Supreme.
By denying absolute independence, it implies the soul’s journey is shaped by karma and divine law rather than mere personal will—supporting the Purana’s broader framework of moral causality and post-death outcomes.
Act responsibly within dharma, avoid egoistic “I alone control everything” thinking, and cultivate surrender, gratitude, and ethical discipline—since outcomes depend on many causes beyond individual control.
