Fire is considered to be the tongue of the Personality of Godhead Viṣṇu, and oblations of grains and clarified butter offered to the fire are thus accepted by Him. That is the principle of all sacrifices, of which Lord Viṣṇu is the master. In other words, the satisfaction of Lord Viṣṇu includes the satisfaction of all demigods and other living beings.
This verse describes offering milk to Agni in a regulated sacrifice, while recognizing the Supreme Person as the true Lord of the Vedic mantras—showing that ritual is meant to be performed with God-centered consciousness.
The sunset detail situates the act within proper Vedic timing and discipline, highlighting the performer’s steadiness and meditative composure in the sacred space as the day transitions.
By setting a fixed daily time for prayer or mantra, reducing distractions, and offering one’s actions as service to the Supreme, one can cultivate the same focused, reverent mind described here.
