ध्यानारूढः प्रबुद्धोऽसौ ददर्श तमजात्मजम् । प्रणिपत्याह संभ्रांतः परं कौतूहलं मुनिः
dhyānārūḍhaḥ prabuddho'sau dadarśa tamajātmajam | praṇipatyāha saṃbhrāṃtaḥ paraṃ kautūhalaṃ muniḥ
瞑想より起ちて目覚め、彼はその驚異なる不生の御方を拝した。畏れに満ちた仙人は伏して礼拝し、至高の求知に燃えて語りかけた。
Suta Goswami (narrating to the sages of Naimisharanya)
Tattva Level: pati
It shows the Shaiva Siddhanta arc of practice: dhyāna ripens into awakening, culminating in Śiva-darśana; the devotee responds with humility (praṇipāta) and sincere inquiry, which becomes the doorway to grace and right knowledge.
The verse models how Saguna contemplation leads the seeker to a direct experience of the Lord; in Shiva Purana practice, such meditation is commonly supported by Linga-upāsanā—focusing the mind on Shiva’s accessible form while honoring his unbegotten, transcendent nature.
Sustained dhyāna followed by reverent prostration and prayerful questioning; traditionally this is paired with japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and disciplined worship (e.g., Tripuṇḍra/bhasma and Rudrāksha) to steady the mind for darśana.
