tapo hi paramaṃ proktaṃ tapasā vidyate phalam | taporatā hi ye nityaṃ modaṃte saha daivataiḥ
タパス(苦行)は最上であると説かれる。タパスによってこそ真の果が得られる。常に苦行に専心する者は、神々とともに天上の歓喜を味わう。

It affirms tapas as the supreme inner discipline that ripens into its “fruit”—purification, steadiness in sādhanā, and fitness for Shiva’s grace, culminating in divine joy and liberation-oriented merit.
Tapas supports Saguna Shiva worship by strengthening vows, japa, and restraint; such disciplined devotion makes Linga-pūjā effective, turning external ritual into an inward offering aligned with Shiva’s presence.
Adopt a regulated vrata with daily japa of the Panchākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), simple diet and self-restraint, and Linga-abhiṣeka; if practiced, apply Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and wear Rudrākṣa as aids to sustained tapas.
