It presents disciplined Vedic study as a purifying sādhana: when sacred sound is learned and preserved correctly, it becomes a fit vehicle for devotion to Pati (Shiva) and for inner refinement leading toward liberation.
In Shaiva practice, outer worship (Linga-pūjā) is strengthened by śabda-śuddhi—purity of mantra and recitation. The verse highlights the training that safeguards Vedic and mantric precision, which supports Saguna Shiva worship and steadies the mind for contemplation of Shiva.
The verse points to Upākarman and sustained daily recitation/study with proper methods (Pada/Krama). As a practical takeaway, one may adopt a regular vow of mantra-japa (especially the Panchakshara, if initiated) with disciplined pronunciation and daily routine.
