It declares that Śiva’s Name-hymn (nāmāṣṭaka) is not merely praise but a direct revelatory teaching—regular recitation and contemplation of His names leads the bound soul (paśu) toward peace (śānti) and transcendence (atīta), aligning with the Shaiva Siddhānta view of Pati as the liberating Lord.
By emphasizing Śiva’s names and their ordered contemplation, the verse supports saguna-upāsanā: devotees approach the formless Supreme through accessible forms—Linga worship, mantra, and nāma—where sound (nāma) becomes a doorway to realizing Śiva beyond form.
Daily nāma-japa/recitation of the nāmāṣṭaka with focused remembrance (smaraṇa) is implied; it may be paired with standard Śaiva practice such as offering to the Linga and repeating the Panchākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) as the inner support.
