Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Vamadeva
Sthala Purana: Cosmogonic hierarchy: Viṣṇu’s emergence from Rudra’s manifestation, and his governance of the water principle under the Vāmadeva-cakra.
Significance: Reorients sectarian hierarchy toward Śiva as source (pati) while honoring Viṣṇu’s cosmic office (adhikāra) in preservation via āpaḥ-tattva.
Role: creative
Cosmic Event: cosmic emanation (devatā-utpatti) and tattva-governance schema
It establishes Rudra (Śiva) as the supreme source (Pati) from whom functional cosmic powers arise, assigning Viṣṇu a sustaining role linked to the water principle—showing that liberation comes through recognizing the Lord as the ultimate origin beyond the tattvas.
By describing emanation from Rudra’s manifested form, it supports Saguna worship: the Liṅga symbolizes Śiva as the source and support of all deities and elements, while still pointing to His transcendence beyond them.
Meditate on Śiva as Pati presiding over all tattvas while japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) is performed; offer water (jala/āpaḥ) in abhiṣeka with the insight that the water principle too is governed by Śiva’s power.
