Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Umapati
Significance: Directs the practitioner from external saṃskāra (bhasma/tripuṇḍra) to internal upāsanā: Śiva is to be realized in the heart-lotus, culminating in grace (anugraha) that loosens pāśa.
Shakti Form: Uma
Role: liberating
It teaches that genuine bhakti must mature into inward contemplation: the disciple realizes Śiva as the indwelling Pati, present in the heart-lotus, guiding the soul toward liberation.
While outer worship may be offered to the Liṅga, this verse emphasizes Saguna dhyāna—visualizing Śiva as Umā’s consort—internalizing the same worship as an inner sanctuary in the heart.
A practice of dhyāna: sit steadily, collect the mind with devotion, and meditate on Śiva seated in the heart-lotus; this can be supported by japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and disciplined purity.
