uttiṣṭhasveti mantrasya viśvarūpāya śabdataḥ | puruṣāya padambrūyādosvāhetyasya saṃvadet
「uttiṣṭhasva(起て!)」に始まるマントラにおいては、所定の箇所で「viśvarūpa(遍くあらゆる形を具する者)」を唱え、次いで「puruṣa(至上の人格)」を唱える。またこのマントラの結びとして「oṃ svāhā」を誦すべし。
Suta Goswami (narrating Shiva’s ritual/mantra instructions to the sages of Naimisharanya)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Īśāna
Mantra: uttiṣṭhasva … viśvarūpāya … puruṣāya … oṃ svāhā
It teaches disciplined mantra-vidhi: invoking Shiva as Viśvarūpa (all-pervading Lord) and Puruṣa (supreme conscious Being), then sealing the offering with “oṃ svāhā,” aligning speech, intention, and worship toward Pati (Shiva) for purification and liberation.
By naming Shiva as Viśvarūpa and Puruṣa, the verse supports Saguna upāsanā—worship of Shiva with attributes—commonly centered on the Śiva-liṅga, where mantra recitation and offerings are made with precise sacred words.
It indicates a mantra-recitation protocol used in worship or homa: recite the mantra with the specified epithets (Viśvarūpa, Puruṣa) and conclude with “oṃ svāhā,” offering the mantra’s fruit to Shiva with focused attention.
