तस्यैवतपसोव्युष्ट्याप्रसादाच्छस्वयम्भुवः ।।।।नासुरेभ्यो न देवेभ्योभयंममकदाचन ।
tasyaiva tapaso vyuṣṭyā prasādāc ca svayambhuvaḥ |
nāsurebhyo na devebhyo bhayaṁ mama kadācana ||
まさにその苦行の成就と、自生者(スヴァヤンブー)の御加護によって、我はかつて恐れを抱いたことがない――アスラにも、デーヴァにも。
'By the power of the penancedone by me once, creator Brahma has given me reward, pleased with my penance. I have no fear of Asuras or Devas'.
Fearlessness is not inherently dharmic; when rooted in ego and boon-based power rather than truth and righteousness, it becomes recklessness (adharmic audacity).
Rāvaṇa claims immunity and confidence derived from Brahmā’s favor, to harden the rākṣasas for war.
Courage is asserted, but the verse frames it as boastful invulnerability rather than dharmic bravery grounded in justice.
