The Slaying of Indrajit
अमर्षमाणस्तत्कर्मरावणस्यसुतोबली ।।।।विव्याथदशभिर्बाणैस्सौमित्रिंतममर्षणम् ।
amaraṣamāṇas tat karma rāvaṇasya suto balī | vivyātha daśabhir bāṇaiḥ saumitriṁ tam amarṣaṇam ||
その所業に耐えかねたラーヴァナの強き子は怒りに燃え、屈せぬサウミトリに十本の矢を浴びせた。
Indrajith, unable to tolerate the action of Saumithri, was angry and struck him with ten arrows.
The verse warns that unchecked anger (krodha) quickly turns into violence; dharma calls for self-mastery even amid justified conflict.
Indrajit retaliates after Lakṣmaṇa strikes his horses, responding with a volley of ten arrows.
Indrajit’s martial power is highlighted, though coupled with intolerance and anger rather than restraint.
