Bearing Mountain
स्वभावजरयायुक्तंवृद्धंशरशतैश्चितम् ।प्रजापतिसुतंवीरंशाम्यन्तमिवपावकम् ।।6.74.14।।दृष्टवातमुपसङ्ग्रम्यपौलस्त्योवाक्यमब्रवीत् ।
svabhāvajarayā yuktaṃ vṛddhaṃ śaraśataiś citam |
prajāpatisutaṃ vīraṃ śāmyantam iva pāvakam ||6.74.14||
dṛṣṭvā tam upasaṅgramya paulastyo vākyam abravīt |
彼はジャンバヴァーンを見た。時の自然な流れにより老い、百の矢に貫かれた、プラジャーパティの子なる勇者で、まるで鎮まりゆく火のようであった。彼を見て、パウラースティヤ(ヴィビーシャナ)は近づき、言葉をかけた。
"O Noble Jambavan! Indeed, your life has not been afflicted with these sharp arrows." Hearing this, Jambavan uttered these words with difficulty."
Dharma includes honoring and tending elders and leaders, especially when they are weakened—compassion is not suspended in wartime.
Jāmbavān is found grievously wounded; Vibhīṣaṇa comes close to address him.
Vibhīṣaṇa’s respectful attentiveness and Jāmbavān’s heroic endurance despite age and injury.
