Kumbhakarna’s Departure for Battle
अङ्गदान्यङ्गुलीवेष्टान्वराण्याभरणानि च ।।।।हारं च श्शिसङ्काशमाबबन्दमहात्मनः ।
aṅgadāni aṅgulīveṣṭān varāṇi ābharaṇāni ca | hāraṃ ca śaśisaṅkāśam ābabandha mahātmanaḥ ||
彼はその大いなる御心の者に、腕輪と指輪、優れた荘厳の飾りを着け、さらに月のごとく輝く首飾りを結び付けた。
Then Ravana placed armlets, rings, exquisite ornaments, garland s of pearls like moonlight on Kumbhakarna's neck.
Dharma is shown as upholding honour and dignity for one who is about to undertake perilous duty—an affirmation of role-based ethics (svadharma) for warriors.
Rāvaṇa continues the ceremonial adornment of Kumbhakarṇa with royal ornaments before battle.
Recognition of merit and the strengthening of resolve through honour.
