Mahodara’s Counsel and the Critique of Kumbhakarna’s Solo Assault
प्रीतोनामततोभूत्वाभृत्यानांत्वमरिन्दम ।भोगांश्चपरिवारांश्चकामांश्चवसुदापय ।।।।
prīto nāma tato bhūtvā bhṛtyānāṁ tvam arindama |
bhogāṁś ca parivārāṁś ca kāmāṁś ca vasudāpaya ||
敵を制する者よ、次いで喜びのしるしとして、家臣と従者に享楽と贈り物を与え、望みのままに財を施せ。
"O tamer of enemies! In the name of expression of happiness, thereafter gift items of enjoyment to the attendants, and companions and granting wealth as per their desire.
It highlights rājadharma: a leader should express gratitude and ensure the welfare of servants and companions through appropriate rewards and support.
By openly acknowledging satisfaction and repaying service with fitting gifts, the leader’s conduct remains truthful—actions align with inner intent and publicly affirmed goodwill.
