The Slaying of Dhumrākṣa
शरनिर्भिन्नगात्रास्तेशूलनिर्भिन्नदेहिनः ।जगृहुस्तेद्रुमांस्तत्रशिलाश्चहरियूथपाः ।।6.52.7।।
śara-nirbhinna-gātrās te śūla-nirbhinna-dehinaḥ |
jagṛhus te drumāṃs tatra śilāś ca hari-yūthapāḥ ||6.52.7||
矢に肢を貫かれ、三叉戟に身を裂かれながらも、そこにいた猿軍の将たちは、木々と岩をつかみ取って武器とした。
Those Rakshasas who survived the onslaught, seeing Dhumraksha killed, re-entered Lanka out of fear of being killed by Vanaras.
Righteous struggle requires perseverance: pain does not become an excuse to abandon one’s protective duty toward the just cause.
Despite severe injuries from rākṣasa weapons, the vānaras continue fighting using trees and stones.
Kṣānti (endurance) paired with vīrya (valor)—the capacity to act effectively even while wounded.
