माल्यवानुपदेशः—रावणक्रोधः तथा लङ्काद्वाररक्षा-व्यवस्था
Malyavan’s Counsel, Ravana’s Anger, and the Fortification of Lanka
एवंब्रुवाणंसंरब्धंरुष्टंविज्ञायरावणम् ।व्रीळितोमाल्यवान्वाक्यंनोत्तरंप्रत्यपद्यत ।।।।
evaṃ bruvāṇaṃ saṃrabdhaṃ ruṣṭaṃ vijñāya rāvaṇam |
vrīḍito mālyavān vākyaṃ nottaraṃ pratyapadyata ||
そのように語り、昂ぶって怒りに燃えるラーヴァナを見て、マールヤヴァーンは恥じ入り、返す言葉を持たなかった。
Malyavan offered blessings to the king for success in accordance with tradition left to his house.
It shows the breakdown of dharmic counsel when a ruler is ruled by anger; wise speech becomes impossible in a hostile court.
After Rāvaṇa’s furious declarations, Mālyavān withdraws into silence, unable (or unwilling) to continue advising.
Mālyavān’s modesty and caution (lajjā/vrīḍā) are shown—though it also signals the tragedy of unheeded wisdom.
