Ravana Hurls the Trident; Rama Counters with Indra’s Javelin
पृथिवींचान्तरिक्षं च दिशश्चप्रदिशस्तथा ।प्राकम्पयत्तदाशब्दोराक्षसेन्द्रस्यदारुणः ।।।।
pṛthivīṃ cāntarikṣaṃ ca diśaś ca pradiśas tathā |
prākampayat tadā śabdo rākṣasendrasya dāruṇaḥ ||6.104.15||
そのとき、羅刹の王の凄まじい声は、大地と天空を震わせ、あらゆる方角とその間の方位までも揺り動かした。
By the horrible sound made by the Rakshasa king, the earth, even the heavens, similarly the quarters and corners trembled.
It underscores the disruptive nature of adharma: when power is rooted in arrogance and rage, it ‘shakes’ the moral and social order, symbolized by nature trembling.
Rāvaṇa’s roar is so intense that it is described as making the world itself tremble.
The virtue implied for the righteous side is steadiness (dhairya): remaining unshaken when confronted by overwhelming displays of force.
