tārāṇām iva suvyaktaṁ mahatīnāṁ śubhārciṣām | prabhā-varṇa-prasādāś ca virejus tatra yoṣitām || 5.9.44 ||
そこでは、女たちの光彩と色艶、そして優美な趣がはっきりと現れていた。吉祥の光を放つ大いなる星々のように。
It was clear that the grace and lustre of those women looked brilliant like the lustre and grace of brilliant stars releasing an auspicious glow.
Dharma-oriented reading distinguishes aesthetic description from endorsement: beauty is acknowledged as a fact of the world, while the epic’s larger ethical arc evaluates how such beauty is pursued, possessed, or misused.
The narrator continues describing the inner chambers that Hanumān has entered, emphasizing the women’s visible splendor through a star-simile.
Hanumān’s composure and discipline: he remains an observer, not a participant, keeping his mind aligned with duty.
