विज्ञापनम् / Dadhimukha Reports the Madhuvana Incident
किमयं वानरो राजन् वनपः प्रत्युपस्थितः।कं चार्थमभिनिर्दिश्य दुःखितो वाक्यमब्रवीत्।।।।
kim ayaṃ vānaro rājan vanapaḥ pratyupasthitaḥ | kaṃ cārtham abhinirdiśya duḥkhito vākyam abravīt ॥5.63.12॥
「王よ、この猿――林を守る者――はなぜあなたの御前に参りましたか。悲しみに沈み、いかなる件を申し述べているのですか。」
"O king! why has this protector of the garden come here? Why is he sad? What is he narrating, asked Lakshmana.
Respectful questioning in the pursuit of truth: dharma encourages understanding the grievance fully before reacting, especially in matters of governance.
Lakṣmaṇa asks Sugrīva why the garden-guardian has arrived distressed and what complaint he is presenting.
Lakṣmaṇa’s clarity and procedural fairness (hearing the matter) are emphasized.
