तं मत्तमिव मातङ्गं बद्धं कपिवरोत्तमम्।राक्षसा राक्षसेन्द्राय रावणाय न्यवेदयन्।।।।
taṃ mattam iva mātaṅgaṃ baddhaṃ kapi-varottamam |
rākṣasā rākṣasendrāya rāvaṇāya nyavedayan ||
羅刹たちは、羅刹の王ラーヴァナのもとへ、猿の中の最勝者を差し出した。縛られてなお、発情して猛る象のごとく、その威力は抗しがたかった。
The ogres presented the best of monkeys, Hanuman looking like an elephant in rut to Ravana, the demon king.
Dharma teaches that outer restraint cannot bind inner righteousness: Hanumān’s body is bound, but his dharmic resolve and truthful purpose remain unconquered.
Hanumān is formally presented before Rāvaṇa, and his formidable presence is highlighted through a powerful simile.
