The Token of Recognition (Chūḍāmaṇi) and the Crow Episode Recalled
ततस्तस्मिन्महाबाहुः कोपसंवर्तितेक्षणः।।5.38.29।।वायसे कृतवान्क्रूरां मतिं मतिमतां वरः।
tatas tasmin mahābāhuḥ kopasaṃvartitekṣaṇaḥ || 5.38.29 ||
vāyase kṛtavān krūrāṃ matiṃ matimatāṃ varaḥ |
そのとき、偉大なる腕を持ち、思慮ある者の中でも最上の彼は、怒りにより眼差しを鋭く狭め、渦巻く憤りのまま、その烏に対して厳然たる決意を固めた。
"It may not be possible for a woman to cross on my back the vast ocean stretching over a hundred yojanas. It is not possible for a woman.
Dharma supports firm action against cruelty, but it must arise from discerning judgment, not mere rage.
Rāma decides to act decisively against the crow after recognizing the offense.
Practical wisdom (viveka) paired with protective strength.
