'O lord! observing that you are not hurt even when struck by the thunderbolt, Indra offered, one of the best boons to you, to choose to die only when you wish.
Power is sanctified by self-mastery: the boon ties life-and-death not to external compulsion but to inner discipline and rightful timing.
Indra realizes Hanumān is unharmed by the vajra and, pleased, grants him the boon of choosing the time of his death.
Svatantratā with restraint—freedom governed by wisdom; also Indra’s capacity to correct himself through generosity after anger.
