दितेर्गर्भभङ्गो मरुत्प्रतिष्ठा च
Diti’s Severed Embryo and the स्थापना of the Maruts; Viśālā-nagara Lineage
सुमतिस्तु महातेजा विश्वामित्रमुपागतम्।श्रुत्वा नरवरश्रेष्ठ: प्रत्युद्गच्छन्महायशा:।।।।
sumatis tu mahātejā viśvāmitram upāgatam | śrutvā naravaraśreṣṭhaḥ pratyudgacchan mahāyaśāḥ ||
ヴィシュヴァーミトラの来訪を聞くや、偉光を放つスーマティ――王たちの中の最勝にして大いなる気力を備える者――は出迎えに赴いた。
Having heard of the arrival of Viswamitra the celebrated Sumati, most brilliant chief of kings proceeded (to receive him).
Atithi-satkāra (honoring guests), especially honoring a sage: prompt reception of the virtuous is treated as a kingly duty (rājadharma).
King Sumati learns of Viśvāmitra’s arrival at Vaiśālī and immediately goes out to welcome him.
Respectful readiness and humility in power—royal greatness is shown through honoring spiritual merit.
