Śravaṇa—devotional hearing of the sacred account/teaching—is praised as granting Viṣṇu’s proximity and culminating in reaching Hari’s abode.
They are the four puruṣārthas: dharma (righteous duty), artha (material well-being), kāma (legitimate desire/pleasure), and mokṣa (liberation).
It teaches that sincere devotion expressed through attentive listening to sacred teachings is a direct and powerful means to both worldly well-being (rightly ordered) and the highest spiritual goal.
