स्वाध्यायं प्राङ्मुखः कृत्वा तर्पयेद्देवमानवान् । ऋषीन्पितॄन्हि स्वीयांश्च विधिवन्नामगोत्रवित् ॥ ६१ ॥
svādhyāyaṃ prāṅmukhaḥ kṛtvā tarpayeddevamānavān | ṛṣīnpitṝnhi svīyāṃśca vidhivannāmagotravit || 61 ||
東に面してスヴァーディヤーヤ(svādhyāya)を修したのち、タルパナ(tarpaṇa)として水を捧げ、神々と人々に施すべし。さらに、リシたち、ピトリ(祖霊)、および自らの亡き縁者にも、名とゴートラ(氏族)を知り、法にかなって行う。
