The Description of Kāśī (Kāśī-māhātmya): Avimukta, Kapālamocana, and Śiva’s Purification

caturbhiradbhutaivaktraiścaturo nigamānmudā | udgiraṃtaṃ jagannāthaṃ dṛṣṭvā prīto'bhavattadā || 8 ||
そのとき、四つの不思議なる口をもって喜びつつ四ヴェーダを宣説される宇宙の主を見て、彼は大いなる歓喜に満たされた。
Narada (narrative voice within the Uttara-Bhaga tirtha-mahatmya frame)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It affirms Vishnu (Jagannatha) as the living source and revealer of Vedic knowledge—so devotion to Him is aligned with the very authority of the four Vedas.
Bhakti is shown as joyful reverence: the devotee’s heart becomes “prīta” (pleased) upon beholding the Lord’s divine majesty and His role as the giver of sacred revelation.
The verse emphasizes Veda-prāmāṇya (Vedic authority) and śruti-centered learning; it indirectly supports Vedanga study (especially śikṣā and vyākaraṇa) as tools for correctly receiving and transmitting Vedic recitation.
