Graha–Ketu–Utpāta Lakṣaṇas: Solar/Lunar Omens, Comets, Eclipses, and Calendar Rules
saṃdhirvāpi tayoḥ sāmyaṃ kulākulagaṇoḍuṣu | arkārkibhaumavāre cedbhadrā yā viṣamāṃghribham || 198 ||
Sanatkumara (teaching Narada)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhayanaka
It emphasizes dharmic discipline through correct timing: even good intentions should be aligned with auspicious cosmic factors, so that rituals and vows support sattva and minimize obstacles.
Bhakti is strengthened when devotional acts (vrata, japa, pūjā) are performed with śāstric care; this verse contributes by showing how a devotee avoids unsuitable time-windows (Bhadrā) that can diminish the intended spiritual fruit of a rite.
Vedāṅga Jyotiṣa (muhurta-śāstra): it gives a rule using weekday lords (Sun/Saturn/Mars) together with gaṇa–nakṣatra classifications to identify a specific form of Bhadrā (viṣama-aṅghrī) that is generally avoided for certain undertakings.
