जातार्थे लज्जितोऽत्यर्थे श्रेयाञ्छ्रेष्टश्च नारद । कृष्णतरः शुक्लतमः किम आख्यानतोऽव्ययान् ॥ ५९ ॥

Transliteration

jātārthe lajjito'tyarthe śreyāñchreṣṭaśca nārada | kṛṣṇataraḥ śuklatamaḥ kima ākhyānato'vyayān || 59 ||

Translation

おおナーラダよ、世俗の目的に深く恥じ入りながらも、「より益ある者」「最も優れた者」と呼ばれることがある。ならば、不滅の事柄を「より黒い」「より白い」といった比較で語り立てて何の益があろうか。
