Pitṛ-ājñā (father’s instruction) is treated as binding dharma; delay itself becomes a form of transgression. Swearing by the father’s feet underscores reverence and the seriousness of commitment.
Vamśānucarita: dhārmic ideals are embedded as character-markers within lineage narrative.
‘Feet’ signify foundation/refuge; swearing by the father’s feet symbolizes anchoring one’s will in a higher ground (guru/elder principle), preventing the mind from wandering into hesitation.
