Adhyaya 23 — Ashvatara’s Vow for Madalasa and the Bestowal of Musical Science by Sarasvati
jaḍa uvāca iti vākyaṁ tayoḥ śrutvā vimarśam agamat pitā | vimṛśya cāha tau putrau nāgarāṭ prahasann iva ||

Dharma is not impulsive; the wise deliberate (vimarśa) and then instruct. The ‘smile’ signals confidence in disciplined effort rather than resignation.
Narrative connective tissue (Ākhyāna), supporting ethical instruction.
Vimarśa indicates inner discernment (viveka) preceding tapas—action should arise from clarity, not agitation.
