उपप्लवन्ति वित्रस्ता रथेभ्यो रथिनस्तथा । सादिनश्चाश्वपृछे भ्यो भूमौ चैव पदातय:,उस समय अत्यन्त भयभीत होकर रथी सैनिक रथोंसे कूदकर और घुड़सवार घोड़ोंकी पीठसे उछलकर जान लेकर भाग चले और पैदल योद्धा तो भूमिपर थे ही; उन्होंने भी (डरके मारे) इधर-उधरकी राह ली

ヴァイシャンパーヤナは語った。恐怖に打たれ、車戦士は戦車から跳び降り、騎兵は馬背から身を躍らせ、地にいた歩兵もまた狼狽して四方へ散った――誰もが命惜しさに逃げ惑ったのである。この場面は、信頼と庇護が崩れ落ちるとき、恐れが軍の秩序と戦う決意をいかに溶かし去るかを示している。
