कृपवाक्यं तथा नीत्युपदेशः
Kṛpa’s Counsel and a Discourse on Statecraft
एवमेतत् तु संचिन्त्य यत्कृते मन्यसे हितम् । तत् क्षिप्रं कुरु कौरव्य यद्येवं श्रद्धधासि मे,“कुरुनन्दन! यदि मेरी बातोंपर तुम्हें विश्वास हो, तो इसी प्रकार सोच-विचारकर जो काम करनेसे तुम्हें अपना हित जान पड़े, उसे शीघ्र करो”
evam etat tu sañcintya yat-kṛte manyase hitam | tat kṣipraṁ kuru kauravya yad evaṁ śraddadhāsi me ||
ヴァイシャンパーヤナは言った。「このように熟慮したなら、真に己の益となると判断する策を、速やかに行え。おおクル族の裔よ、もし我が言葉をそのように信ずるなら、ためらわずに動け。」
वैशम्पायन उवाच
One should deliberate carefully and then act promptly on what one discerns to be truly beneficial (hita), especially when guided by trusted counsel; reflection should lead to timely, decisive action.
Vaiśampāyana, as narrator, conveys an exhortation addressed to a Kuru prince: after considering the situation, he should quickly undertake the action he deems best for his welfare, provided he has faith in the speaker’s guidance.
