उवाच च महाबाहु: पाज्चालीं तत्र द्रौपदीम् । अश्रुपूर्णमुखी दीनां दुर्धर्ष: स वृकोदर:,उस समय पांचालराजकुमारी द्रौपदी बड़ी दीन एवं दयनीय हो गयी थी। उसके मुखपर आँसुओंकी धारा बह रही थी। दुर्धर्ष वीर महाबाहु वृकोदरने उसे धीरज बँधाते हुए कहा --
vaiśampāyana uvāca | uvāca ca mahābāhuḥ pāñcālīṃ tatra draupadīm | aśrupūrṇamukhīṃ dīnāṃ durdharṣaḥ sa vṛkodaraḥ ||
ヴァイシャンパーヤナは言った。その場で、巨腕にして攻め難きヴリコーダラ・ビーマは、パンチャーラの王女ドラウパディーに語りかけた。彼女は哀れにうなだれ、顔は涙に濡れていた。彼はその心を支えんとして、慰めの言葉を語り始めた。
