Virāṭa-parva Adhyāya 22 — Draupadī’s Abduction Attempt and Bhīma’s Suppression of the Kīcakas
वैशम्पायन उवाच इत्युक्त्वा तं महाबाहुर्भीमो भीमपराक्रम: । सहसोत्पत्य कौन्तेय: प्रहस्येदमुवाच ह
vaiśampāyana uvāca | ity uktvā taṃ mahābāhur bhīmo bhīmaparākramaḥ | sahasotpatya kaunteyaḥ prahasyedam uvāca ha ||
ヴァイシャンパーヤナは語った。そう言い終えると、クンティーの子にして大腕、恐るべき武威を備えたビーマは、たちまち跳ね起き、笑みを含んで次の言葉を放った。
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights righteous confidence: when confronting adharma, a dharmic hero may display fearless composure and strategic intimidation, signaling readiness to act without inner hesitation.
After addressing the other person, Bhīma abruptly leaps up and laughs, then begins to speak—marking a shift from prior dialogue to Bhīma’s decisive response and impending action.
