Virāṭa-parva Adhyāya 22 — Draupadī’s Abduction Attempt and Bhīma’s Suppression of the Kīcakas

The verse underscores ethical reversal: one who prides himself on exploiting intimacy is confronted by a stronger moral force. Skill in sensual matters without restraint and righteousness becomes a mark of vice, and the narrative frames such pride as deserving correction.
Bhīma addresses a man boasting of his prowess in pleasing women, responding with cutting irony. He acknowledges the man’s claimed expertise in touch and love-craft, then warns that the gentle touch being offered is unlike anything he has experienced—foreshadowing a decisive, punitive encounter within the Virāṭa court episode.
