Draupadī–Bhīmasena Dialogue on Suffering, Kāla, and Daiva
ki nu māṁ manyase pārtha sukhinīti parantapa | evaṁ duḥkhaśatāviṣṭā yudhiṣṭhira-nimittataḥ ||
The verse highlights the hidden weight of dharma and responsibility: outward endurance can conceal deep inner suffering. It also points to how the fate and duties of a righteous leader (Yudhiṣṭhira) can become the cause of prolonged hardship for those bound to him by family and duty.
In the Virāṭa Parva context, the speaker expresses that she is not truly happy despite appearances; she is continually afflicted by many sorrows arising from Yudhiṣṭhira’s situation and the Pāṇḍavas’ difficult circumstances during their concealment/exile.
