द्रौपद्याः भीमसेन-प्रबोधनम्

Draupadī Awakens Bhīmasena

(यस्या गात्र शुभं पीन॑ मुखं जयति पड़कजम्‌ । गतिहसं स्मितं कुन्द सैषा नाहति पद्धधम्‌ ।।

vaiśaṃpāyana uvāca |

yasyā gātraṃ śubhaṃ pīnaṃ mukhaṃ jayati paṅkajam |

gatihaṃsa-smitaṃ kunda-saiṣā nārhati padā vadhyam ||

dvātriṃśad daśanā yasyāḥ śvetā māṃsa-nibandhanāḥ |

snigdhāś ca mṛdavaḥ keśāḥ saiṣā nārhati padā vadhyam ||

padma-cakraṃ dhvajaṃ śaṅkhaṃ prāsādo makaras tathā |

yasyāḥ pāṇitale santi saiṣā nārhati padā vadhyam ||

āvartāḥ khalu catvāraḥ sarve caiva pradakṣiṇāḥ |

samaṃ gātraṃ śubhaṃ snigdhaṃ yasyā nārhati padā vadhyam ||

acchidra-hasta-pādā ca acchidra-daśanā ca yā |

kanyā kamala-patrākṣī kathaṃ sā padā vadhyam ||

seyaṃ lakṣaṇa-sampannā pūrṇa-candra-nibhānanā |

surūpiṇī suvadānā neyaṃ yogyā padā vadham ||

deva-devīv a subhagā śakra-devīv a śobhanā |

apsarā iva saurūpyān neyaṃ yogyā padā vadham ||

na hīdṛśī manuṣyeṣu sulabhā vara-varṇinī |

nārī sarvān avadyāṅgī devīṃ manyāmahe vayam ||

ヴァイシャンパーヤナは言った。「四肢は吉祥にしてふくよか、顔は蓮華をも凌ぐ。しとやかな歩みは白鳥に勝り、微笑はクンダの花の白さをさえ霞ませる——そのような女を、足で打つなどあってはならぬ。 三十二の歯は白く、歯茎に堅く収まり、髪は艶やかで柔らかい——その女は足で打たれるべきではない。 掌には蓮華・輪(チャクラ)・旗・法螺(シャंख)・宮殿・マカラの印がある——吉相を具えたこの女を、足で踏みにじるべきではない。 身に四つの渦巻きがあり、いずれも右旋する。体は均整がとれ、吉祥にして光沢を帯びる——その女は足で打たれるべきではない。 手足に瑕なく、歯も欠けぬ。蓮弁の眼をもつ乙女——どうして蹴られるに値しようか。 この者は吉兆に満ち、顔は満月のごとく、姿は美しく言葉も麗しい——足によって害されるに値しない。 天女のごとく幸いにして、インドラの妃のごとく輝き、アプサラスのごとく麗しい——足で打たれるべきではない。 かくも高貴な肌の女は人間界に容易には得られぬ。四肢に一点の咎もないゆえ、我らは彼女をただの人とは見ず、女神とみなす。」
