Yudhiṣṭhira’s Rationale for Sending Arjuna and Request to Dhaumya
sadā saṁnihito yatra viṣṇur vasati bhārata | yatra brahmādayo devā ṛṣayaś ca tapodhanāḥ ||
The presence of Viṣṇu is portrayed as the defining mark of a truly sacred place: where the Lord abides, the highest gods and accomplished sages naturally congregate. Ethically, it implies that proximity to the divine (through devotion, purity, and right practice) elevates one’s environment and conduct.
A speaker addresses “Bhārata” and describes the sanctity of a location by stating that Viṣṇu is ever-present there, and that Brahmā, other deities, and tapas-rich sages also reside there—framing the place as spiritually authoritative and worthy of reverence.
