Kāmyake Arjuna-viyogaḥ — The Pandavas’ despondency in Kāmyaka during Arjuna’s absence
brāhmaṇaiś ca mahābhāgair vedavedāṅgapāragaiḥ | nityam anvāsyase rājan tatra kā paridevanā, rājan ||
A ruler should not collapse into grief when supported by wise, Veda-trained Brahmins; learned counsel and sacred knowledge are presented as stabilizing resources that help one face adversity with steadiness and dharmic clarity.
Bṛhadaśva addresses the king and consoles him, pointing out that he is continually accompanied by eminent Brahmin scholars proficient in the Vedas and Vedāṅgas; therefore, Bṛhadaśva questions why the king should lament in the present circumstances.
