Nala as Bāhuka enters Ṛtuparṇa’s city
यत् त्वयोक्तं नरश्रेष्ठ तत् समक्ष महाद्ुते । स्मर्तुमहसि कल्याण वचन पार्थिवर्षभ,महातेजस्वी कल्याणमय राजाओंमें उत्तम नरश्रेष्ठ। आपने मेरे सामने जो बात कही थी, अपनी उस बातका स्मरण करना उचित है
bṛhadaśva uvāca | yat tvayoktaṃ naraśreṣṭha tat samakṣaṃ mahādyute | smartum arhasi kalyāṇa vacanaṃ pārthivarṣabha ||
ブリハダシュヴァは言った。「人のうち最上の者よ、偉大なる光輝を帯びる者よ――わたしの面前であなたが語った言葉を、善き者よ、王たちの中の雄牛よ、いまこそ想い起こすがよい。」
बृहृदश्च उवाच
The verse emphasizes ethical accountability: a noble person, especially a ruler, should remember and stand by what he has said. Recollection here implies responsibility to one’s prior statement or commitment.
Bṛhadaśva addresses a kingly figure with honorifics and urges him to recall something he previously stated in Bṛhadaśva’s presence, setting up counsel or a reminder tied to the ongoing situation in the forest narrative.
