दमयन्त्या वणिजां सार्थगमनम्, हस्तियूथविप्लवः, चेदिराजपुरप्रवेशश्च

मामियं हानुरक्तैवं दुःखमाप्रोति मत्कृते । मद्विहीना त्वियं गच्छेत् कदाचित् स्वजनं प्रति,“यह मुझसे इस प्रकार अनुरक्त होकर मेरे ही लिये दुःख उठा रही है। यदि मुझसे अलग हो जाय तो यह कदाचित् अपने स्वजनोंके पास जा सकती है
mām iyaṁ hānuraktaivaṁ duḥkham āpnoti matkṛte | madvihīnā tv iyaṁ gacchet kadācit svajanaṁ prati ||
ブリハダシュヴァは語った。「この女はかくも我に心寄せ、我がためにのみ苦しみを負っている。もし我と離れれば、あるいは自らの身内のもとへ帰れるかもしれぬ。」
