Dhṛtarāṣṭra and Sañjaya on Arjuna’s Indraloka report and the political consequences

yathā kuntī ca mādrī ca śacī caiva mamānaghe | tathā ca vaṁśa-jananī tvaṁ hi meḍadya garīyasī, anaghe ||

Educational Q&A

The verse emphasizes dharmic restraint and reverence: Arjuna frames his response through respect for maternal figures and dynastic elders, treating the addressed woman as a venerable ancestor-like authority rather than an object of desire.

In the Indraloka episode of Vana Parva, Arjuna addresses a revered celestial woman connected with the Pūru lineage, declaring that he honors her as he honors Kuntī, Mādrī, and Śacī—indeed, as even more venerable due to her role as dynastic progenitress.
