Adhyāya 35
यो नूनममितायु: स्वादथवापि प्रमाणवित् । स काल वै प्रतीक्षेत सर्वप्रत्यक्षदर्शिवान्,अवश्य ही जिसकी आयुकी कोई माप नहीं है अथवा जो आयुकी निश्चित संख्याको जानता है तथा जिसने सब कुछ प्रत्यक्ष देख लिया है। वही समयकी प्रतीक्षा कर सकता है
yo nūnam amitāyuḥ svādad athavāpi pramāṇavit | sa kālaṃ vai pratīkṣeta sarva-pratyakṣa-darśivān ||
まことに寿命が量り知れぬ者、あるいは自らの寿命の定めを確かに知る者、そして万事をすでに直に見尽くした者だけが、「その時」を待つことができる。
भीमसेन उवाच
One should not postpone necessary action by merely ‘waiting for time’, because human lifespan is uncertain; only someone with limitless life or certain knowledge of its exact limit could safely delay.
Bhīma argues against passivity and counsels urgency: since no one can be sure of how long they will live, waiting for a perfect moment is justified only for an extraordinary person, not for ordinary mortals facing pressing duties.
