वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse upholds dharmic ideals through a portrait of exemplary character: true worth is shown by śīla (moral character), vṛtta (upright conduct), niyama (self-restraint), and bhāvanā (thoughtful discernment), which together form the ethical foundation of a noble life.
The speaker introduces his daughter Pṛthā by name and praises her virtues and reputation, setting her up as an important figure whose moral qualities and disciplined life are relevant to the unfolding account.
