अस्तौषं तमहं देवं सत्येन वचसा विभुम् | पज्च वै तेन मे दत्ता वरा: शूणुत तान् मम,उस समय मैंने सत्यवचनोंद्वारा उन भगवान् यमकी स्तुति की। तब उन्होंने मुझे पाँच वर दिये। उन वरोंको आप मुझसे सुनिये
astauṣaṃ tam ahaṃ devaṃ satyena vacasā vibhum | pañca vai tena me dattā varāḥ śṛṇuta tān mama ||
サーヴィトリーは言った。「そのとき私は、真実の言葉をもってあの大いなる神を讃えました。神は満足し、私に五つの恩寵を授けられたのです。いま、その恩寵が何であったかを私の口からお聞きください。」
गौतम उवाच
Truthful speech and sincere praise offered to a righteous divine authority (Yama, associated with dharma and moral order) become the basis for receiving grace; the verse foregrounds satya (truth) as an ethical power.
Gautama narrates that he praised Yama with truthful words, after which Yama granted him five boons; Gautama then prepares to recount those boons to his listeners.
