स सर्वनाश्रमान् गत्वा शैब्यया सह भार्यया । पुत्रहेतो: परामार्ति जगाम भरतर्षभ,भरतश्रेष्ठ] वे अपनी पत्नी शैब्याके साथ सभी आश्रमोंमें जाकर पुत्रका पता लगाने लगे। उस समय उन्हें सत्यवानके लिये बड़ी वेदना हो रही थी
sa sarvān āśramān gatvā śaibyayā saha bhāryayā | putra-hetoḥ parām ārtiṁ jagāma bharatarṣabha ||
バーラタ族の雄牛よ、彼は妃シャイビヤーとともに、子を求めてあらゆる庵を巡った。その探索のさなか、サティヤヴァーンを思う悲嘆に責め立てられ、深い苦悩へと沈んだ。
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical tension between duty and suffering: parental responsibility and steadfast effort (seeking one’s child) can coexist with intense grief, yet one continues to act rather than collapse into despair.
Mārkaṇḍeya describes a man who, accompanied by his wife Śaibyā, goes from hermitage to hermitage searching for his son; during this search he is overwhelmed by deep anguish connected with Satyavān.
